What physiotherapy is

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that helps people improve movement and function when they are affected by injury, pain, illness or disability. It combines assessment, education, exercise and, where appropriate, hands-on treatment.

At ARTICC CARE, physiotherapy is our first service — and the foundation of the clinic.

Rehabilitation that fits your life

Rehabilitation works best when it is relevant to you. We start by understanding what you need to be able to do — work, care for family, play a sport, or move around your home comfortably — and build care around those goals.

Progress is reviewed regularly, and plans are adjusted when something is not working.

Areas of care

Areas of physiotherapy care

These are common reasons people come to us. If your concern is not listed, call us — we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

Musculoskeletal care

Assessment and treatment planning for concerns affecting muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons.

Musculoskeletal concerns can affect how comfortably you sit, walk, work or sleep. Your physiotherapist will ask how the problem started and what makes it better or worse, then assess movement, strength and joint function.

Treatment is chosen for you rather than taken from a fixed programme. It may include guided exercise, hands-on techniques where clinically appropriate, and practical advice for daily activities.

Back and neck pain

Support for back and neck pain, with a focus on understanding the cause and building confidence in movement.

Back and neck pain are common and often improve with the right guidance. An assessment looks at posture, movement, strength and the demands of your day, so that advice fits your life.

If anything in your assessment suggests you need a medical review, your physiotherapist will tell you and explain why.

Mobility and movement concerns

Help when stiffness, reduced range of movement or balance concerns make everyday activities harder.

Reduced mobility can make stairs, getting up from a chair or walking longer distances feel difficult. Physiotherapy looks at what is limiting movement and works on it step by step, at a pace that suits you.

Strength and functional mobility

Progressive, supervised exercise to rebuild strength for the activities that matter to you.

Functional strength is about the movements you actually need — lifting, carrying, climbing stairs or returning to an activity you enjoy. Exercise is introduced gradually and adjusted as you progress.

Your first visit

Assessment and treatment planning

Every course of care begins the same way: by understanding you.

  1. Your story

We ask about your concern, how it started, what helps, and what you want to get back to.

  2. Physical assessment

Movement, strength, flexibility and function are assessed as appropriate to your concern.

  3. Clear explanation

We explain what we found and what it may mean, in plain language.

  4. A shared plan

Options are discussed and a plan is agreed with you, including how progress will be reviewed.

A note on outcomes. Everyone responds differently to treatment. We will be honest about what physiotherapy may and may not be able to help with, and we do not promise specific results.

FAQs

Physiotherapy questions

All frequently asked questions

What can I expect at an initial physiotherapy consultation?

A first consultation usually starts with a conversation about your concern, how it affects your day and what you would like to get back to. Your physiotherapist will then assess movement, strength and function as appropriate, explain what they find and discuss options with you.

The exact format depends on your concern and on your clinician’s judgement. Any treatment plan is agreed with you.

What should I bring to my first visit?
  • Any relevant reports, scans or letters from other clinicians
  • A list of medicines you currently take
  • Your booking reference
  • Comfortable clothing that lets the area of concern be assessed
Will I need the same treatment as someone else with a similar problem?

Not necessarily. People with similar symptoms can have different causes, goals and circumstances, so physiotherapy is planned individually after assessment. We do not promise specific results.
